Carbon dating.
Carbon dating. It's when scientists look at the amount of carbon in a fossil to determine how old it is. Carbon is caused when cosmic radiation reaches a nitrogen atom. The nitrogen atom turns into a carbon 14 atom. Plants obsorb carbon. Then, animals eat plants and get carbon. After the plant or animal dies, carbon starts to leave. The scientists can look at how little carbon innacurate. How much carbon a fossil has depends on many things. For an example, it depends on what the animal ate. Eating a plant would probably get you more carbon than eating an animal that ate that plant. It also depends on how much time it spent in what place and what exposure to carbon both during the animal's life and after its death. As you could probably geuss, different areas have in general, different amounts of carbon and each place has different amounts of carbon at different times.
